New Year, New You!

New Year, New You!

Each year, we create vision boards, New Year's resolution lists, and discuss our plans and goals, but this year, there will be none of that for me. I only want what’s best for me, genuinely and unapologetically.    2026 appears to focus on all things “Carla” and health and wellness.

I invite you to continue this journey with me, full of learning, changing, and, of course, all things fashion! Check out some of my suggestions below to help you out along the way as we approach 2026.

Making Gentle (and Actually Enjoyable) Changes in the New Year

Every January, we’re suddenly told it’s time to reinvent ourselves. New rules. New routines. New pressure.

But here’s the truth:
Your body doesn’t need a complete overhaul. It needs care, consistency, and a little kindness.

This year let’s try something different. Let’s make changes that feel supportive — not exhausting — and fit into real life.

Let’s Retire the “All or Nothing” Energy

If you’ve ever set a resolution and felt burnt out by February… same.

Instead of rigid rules, I’m leaning into intentions this year. Intentions leave room for rest days, busy days, and “I did my best” days.

Rather than:

  • “I’m cutting everything out.”

  • “I have to do this perfectly.”

Try:

  • “I want to feel better in my body.”

  • “I want more steady energy.”

  • “I want habits I can keep.”

Much easier. Much kinder.

Wellness Starts with Your Nervous System (Yes, Really)

Before we talk food or workouts, let’s talk about how stressed we are — because it matters more than we think.

Some of my favorite simple resets:

  • Taking a few deep breaths before eating

  • Ending the day with warm tea and no screens

  • Going to bed a little earlier when I can

  • Saying “no” without over-explaining

When your nervous system feels calm, everything works better — digestion, sleep, hormones, even cravings.

Add First. Don’t Restrict.

One thing I’ve learned? Restriction usually backfires.

Instead of asking “What should I stop eating?” I ask:
“What can I add to support my body today?”

Think:

  • More vegetables and fiber

  • Healthy fats that actually keep you full

  • Protein at meals so energy doesn’t crash

  • Water and herbal teas (especially in winter)

When your body feels nourished, it stops yelling for quick fixes.

Create One Feel-Good Daily Ritual

You don’t need a whole new routine — just one anchor habit.

Mine might be:

  • A grounding breakfast

  • A short walk during the day

  • Stretching while watching TV

  • Tea before bed (always tea)

These small rituals bring calm and consistency — and that’s where real change happens.

Your Version of Healthy Is Allowed to Change

What worked in your 20s may not work now — and that’s okay.

Health can look like:

  • Better boundaries

  • More rest

  • Eating in a way that supports blood sugar

  • Moving gently instead of pushing harder

  • Letting go of comparison

Listening to your body isn’t giving up — it’s leveling up.

Let Wellness Match the Season

Winter is not the time to sprint. It’s the time to slow down, warm up, and take care.

That might mean:

  • Comforting, nourishing meals

  • Gentler movement

  • More rest

  • Fewer goals, more intention

There’s no rush. Your body knows the pace.

A Gentle Reminder as We Start the Year

You don’t need to fix yourself this year.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t need to do it all at once.

Small, loving changes — done consistently — are more than enough.

Here’s to a year of wellness that feels good, fits your life, and actually lasts.
